Friendly staff decent food

I've known the owners since I was 16 and we've been going to their restaurants for years. In fact, I actually worked for them briefly in High School and in case you're wondering - they always maintain a CLEAN kitchen.As far as the food goes, my favorite has to be the fajitas or the San Antonio Grill Baked Potato that comes with either chicken or steak fajita, cheese and sour cream. Best mexican restaurant in the McCalla/Bessemer area IMHO.

The Steak had a good flavor but it was a little tough. The bake potato was almost burnt. Now the Mexican food that was served was mediocre. I truly think that the food wasn't worth the money I paid .

I love eating here. My wife and I eat here at least once a month. The tacos, burritos and queso are wonderful.

Waiter seemed preoccupied with himself and talking to other workers than serving. Almost just walked out when he came up and finally took our order. The food was great but that was about it.

This place is awesome. I've been eating here for years and I've never had a bad experience. The food is great and so are the margaritas. The staff is awesome as well.

Great fajitas and steaks!!

The only reason they get 4 stars is the Ribeye I had. It was good, the rest of the experience was mediocre.

They have good ribeye steaks it could have used a little garlic salt. There Mexican food was delicious also.

Favorite Mexican restaurant hands down!! I live in east Birmingham but the trip is ALWAYS worth it!!

The chips, salsa, and queso are pretty good. The San Antonio Chile rellenos were terrible. The shrimp had no flavor. The outside of the Chile was tough and the rice was bland. I also ordered cheese enchiladas and was given chicken enchiladas. Overall disappointed.

Best Mexican food around!! They are all so very Friendly!! I know we have been going since before I was pregnant with my daughter who is now 10. My parents, my children, and I eat there at least once a week. Very rarely do we go a week without eating there. If u try it u to may end up there as much as we do. I have been invited to go eat w friends at another Mexican restaurant and it's not the same. San Antonio's is inviting, very friendly and u feel like ur supposed to be there. The other places I have been make me feel out of place. Oh and if you do not want Mexican food try the steak or even steak kabobs. They r better than the$25 steaks at local steak house

Good food for a quick lunch stop while on the road. Quick, friendly service.

This place and Habanero's like to try and one-up each other in mediocrity every few weeks. This place won though, when the steak gave me my first case of food poisoning. I know two others who have similar experience. Please beware.

The food has been consistently good since they opened several years ago. Good margaritas, great service and can get you seated pretty quick, its a favorite

Okay so me and my cousin went there and my cousin has already eaten half of her salad and then the noticed there there was a dead spider in it.

Always have a pleasant experience and great food every time I visit.

I had the 20 oz. Rib eye was Delicious , I ate it without sauce. A little fatty but overall tasty and tender.

It's ok and typically takes longer to get your food than other Mexican restaurants. There's not 1 thing that I would consider just horrible, I've just had better. If you're out numbered on the vote you'll enjoy yourself. But if you get to choose, go 2 minutes to the other side of the interstate to Habaneros. Especially if you're hungry or have little ones that can't sit still too long. You'll have your food before you finish pouring your first Margarita!

The 4.3 average is too high while the food is good the waitress was a stuck up unfriendly person and it took 20 minutes to get seated and I was the only One waiting! 3 stars is being kind 2.75 is a appropriate but this is on the staff food is great

The food was good and it came out really fast, the server was friendly and my drink was great! Plus they had live music (sort of )

Poor excuse for a chimichanga. If i just wanted chicken, cheese, and bread then i would have ordered a quesadilla! I was highly disappointed when what I ordered was not what came out per my standards nor the standards of what an ACTUAL chimichanga is. If you are going to advertise something, at least make it like it should be. That is false advertising. Other than that, the chorizo cheese dip is amazing and highly recommended! The salsa was not too spicy so it was actually pleasant to eat!! Im not sure if I recommend this place for the purpose of they charge $2 for water when other places will not charge you. When looking at my receipt, they charge (2@$2) for soft drink. Didnt know that water was a soft drink now! They did fix it but most wouldnt look at the receipt so the company would be stealing money when customers dont look. Lupe was our servers name. Not sure if its just her or if there are others...just make sure you watch your ticket before you pay!

Well!!!! OMG the foooood is amazing amazing I was introduced to San Antonio Grill by a family member I went for my birthday the food is great!!! Cooked like it should and the fried ice cream there is no words to describe how good it is one gent server I thought was mean he's big and tall but he turned out to be a gentle person I love love love love going there.

First time here with friends. It did not disappoint. I got a margarita that was on point. My Texas Fajitas was great. Service was wonderful.

Great food and excellent service

You never leave hungry. Good tacos, dip, and chips. I have tried several dishes their and the tacos, chips and cheese dip are my favorite. Good burritos and taco salads too.

The food is ok, service has been very hit or miss lately.

Great food, great drinks, great service, fun atmosphere, in a clean welcoming environment. They have live music on Saturday nights, but it's just a guy and a guitar, not a full band and my sensory sensitive child enjoys it. It's a place to meet friends and have a drink at the bar, or a nice restaurant for a first or four hundredth date, or a nice family dinner. They accommodate larger groups and we have celebrated birthdays there. The steak is definitely one of the best things on the menu! I assure you, you won't be disappointed (unless you order it well done, then it's on you 😉). If you haven't been, you should stop in. If you have, you already know how great it is 😀.

Best Mexican food around. Very nice waiters too. They have a great ribeye steak too, wouldn't think so at a Mexican restaurant, but this one is awesome. I highly recommend it!

Not as familiar with this place as all my friends and family are (they ALL love it). I didn't really know what to order but, the woman that took our order was super friendly and patient. I ended up with the Quesidilla/Flauta/Enchilada combo and it was DELICIOUS!! I will be eating there again! (Also, we ordered to-go and it was done in under 10 minutes!)
